ABSTRACT
T he word “politics” has many meanings, but a commonplace defi nition, from the Oxford English Dictionary , is “the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, especially the debate or confl ict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power.” Politics has a very signifi cant infl uence on our lives, so it is not surprising that politics is the focus of systematic research in both the social and the behavioral sciences, and an enduring topic in literature, fi lm and TV.
