ABSTRACT

In Japan, large cities have always had a hot and humid climate in summer, but their inhabitants are now exposed to increasingly severe climates caused by urbanisation. Therefore, designing and planning cities in consideration of urban climates is becoming more important because summer urban thermal environments are becoming increasingly severe. Nevertheless, stakeholders (local government officials, planners, residents, and so on) cannot incorporate urban climate information into their design and planning processes because urban climate systems are difficult to understand.
