ABSTRACT
Serious and important challenges have been raised to the restorative justice movement concerning its capacity to impact structural inequalities that are seen as causal factors in the incidence of crime. Because factors such as racism and poverty are outside the control of individual offenders, holding offenders accountable for individual harm, without accountability for the harms of social inequalities, risks reinforcing an unjust social order.
