ABSTRACT
Many important issues in community supervision center on developments in the financing, management, and technology involved in probation and parole. Largely in response to crowded institutions, there is continuing interest in community supervision as an alternative to incarceration. Burrell (2005) identified emerging trends in probation and parole. He recognized several emerging issues, concluding that community supervision will continue to play a central role in the American system of criminal justice.
