ABSTRACT

Over the last decade the discussion of terrorism has become a hot topic among both academics and practitioners. Most of these discussions, however, have focused on terrorism as it relates to the activities in the physical realm and not the cyber realm. Defining terrorism can sometimes be difficult, given that the term has been defined in many different ways over the years. One generally accepted definition involves politically motivated attacks that are preplanned and staged in such a manner as to instill fear into the general population. These activities generally differ from traditional criminal activities, as perpetrators are extremely dedicated to their mission and are often willing to sacrifice their own lives in order to complete their mission.
