ABSTRACT
Light is radiation. When an atom in a light source is changed physically (the cause of the physical change is irrelevant for our purposes), it emits a photon (electromagnetic radiation) that behaves like a wave and, at the same time, like a particle. For the purposes of photography, light may be discussed as photons that behave like waves.
