ABSTRACT
Wherever there is a classification involving more than two categories it may be useful to explore whether the categories can be better explained by placing them on more than one dimension. In this case, the four cultures can be classified along two dimensions: that of the agonic-hedonic social control mode, and that of the organisation versus individual orientation.
