ABSTRACT

Why do we believe that we have free will? ere are several answers to this question, some of them better than others. e rst answer is what we may term the theological justication. We are the creation of God and he has imbued in us the capacity for free will. For some, this may be justication enough, although for others it will look like a distinct fudge. Surely we have a greater justication, and require a better explanation, for our belief in free will than unquestioning acceptance or adherence to our faith? And for those who do not believe that we were created by God, this answer is clearly unacceptable.
