ABSTRACT

It may be difficult to imagine that production managers may actually have to “sell” something. Mostly, we are expensing and spending money on things such as materials, supplies,

venue rentals, etc., and we aren’t really in the business of “selling” anything. But that is

different for the production manager in a presenting theatre. Unlike the production manager

in a producing theatre, where we have to answer to directors, designers and upper management, the production manager in presenting theatre has to answer to “clients” who are renting

the theatre to produce their own event. Being a presenting theatre production manager has

a mixed and varied set of job duties and functions; this chapter will help you determine the

similarities and differences of this exciting world.
