ABSTRACT

Broadway tours and other large tours are very different from standard regional theatre productions. Touring is about bringing a great show to the guests. As you learned in chapter 9, the scale of the show is usually much larger than regional theatre, and the tour will always have a technical rider. A tour, which loads in and out, has to go together, come apart, go into and out

of trucks every single week and has to be built to withstand the rigors of touring. The show

must also conform to fit into a truck, typically 8 feet x 9 feet x 53 feet. Because of this, truck

space and efficiency are paramount on the road. Understanding how this all works with the

technical rider is essential for the successful production manager.
