ABSTRACT

There are many measures that have been used by supervisors and supervisees to inform supervision practice and by researchers to study it. Some of these measures were designed for other purposes (e.g. therapy outcome, workplace wellbeing), however there are a growing number that have been developed specifically for supervision purposes. This section provides a brief overview of a small selection of the measures developed for use in supervision, and is intended as a starting point for the interested reader. Measures using different approaches and assessing different aspects of supervision have been included. It is beyond the scope of this special topic to provide a detailed critique of the psychometric properties of the tools, therefore readers interested in using (or developing) measures in supervision should undertake a comprehensive search and evaluation of available tools in order to select the most appropriate for their purpose.
