ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the body that takes on a subtle expressive mode, which forms an accompaniment to and effectively defines each behaviour and attitude. The body becomes an object of fear or embarrassment which could undo or even destroy the person. The body as a skilled activity it is quite clear that experiences are different depending on the skill level of the person, not only in terms of processing but also of somatic experience. Mind and body may influence in different degrees in all psychological and somatic complaints, in the same way that the person and the environment may be linked in the ecological act of perception. Behaviour includes the body, and embodied emotion includes embodied mind, behaviour. Behaviour must be specified as a continual process to be isomorphic with the process of psychological and physiological systems. Psychophysiological evidence suggests that it is very difficult to place precise boundaries between, say, physiology and behaviour.
