ABSTRACT

What is the relationship between law and nationalism? Law is generally understood to be a system of rules that govern human behavior and are enforced by government institutions. Nationalism refers to feelings and beliefs that encourage people to identify as members of a nation. Nationalism involves powerful emotions of pride, loyalty, and commitment. Politicians often try to exploit these emotions to gain support for their policies. This result in international competition, sometimes even war, as political leaders seek to demonstrate superiority over other nations.
