ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses the various ways in which Early Years Graduate Professionals/Early Years Teachers (EYGPs/EYTs) can develop effective working relationships with other adults and act as leaders of practice and innovation in order to ensure that outcomes for children are enhanced and improved. The chapter deals firstly with working with parents and carers, move on to some tips to help with leading practice for an Early Years Team within a setting, and conclude with a brief consideration of multi-agency working with staff from other professional groups and backgrounds. The skills, knowledge and values which support the achievement of these aims will be considered, as well as how research supports effective practice. This chapter has placed the focus on the potential for EYGPs/EYTs to act as leaders rather than as managers, modelling good practice and supporting teams within settings.
