ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights two particular areas of challenge. The first challenge is that associated with the many transitions which we all make during our learning careers and which need to be managed and to remain faithful to the principles underpinning the Personal Learning Styles Pedagogy (PLSP). The second challenge is that presented for teachers by the evolving nature of policy and practice associated with teacher education. There are a number of ways that learners can be supported to effectively manage learning transitions, as we have identified throughout this book and framed within the PLSP framework. The development of self-regulatory capacity with special attention afforded to emotional regulation is a fundamental part of this. This chapter discusses the importance of a critical professional identity, which is very much about teachers being prepared to question their own beliefs and values as well as the context in which teaching takes place at a micro level, meso level, and macro level.
