ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the Personal Learning Styles Pedagogy framework as one example of an inclusive participatory pedagogy. Which is focused on implementing overarching principles of effective learning for all students and not about individual instruction for each and every learner. Using the Personal Learning Styles Pedagogy (PLSP) framework will highlight the importance of attending to learner. Thus teacher beliefs about learning in context and supporting student and teacher self-regulatory capacity as part of effective learning and teaching. Using the PLSP framework to provide effective provision and removal of scaffolding, focuses attention now on attending to learner and teacher beliefs about learning in context, and on supporting student self-regulatory capacity. Importantly, information exceeding working memory capacity will not be processed or encoded into long-term memory (LTM). As part of cognitive regulation one key strategy to enable students to have greater access to learning is to lessen the complexity of the learning environment in order to reduce cognitive overload in learners.
