ABSTRACT
The founding of the University of Technology Petronas in 1997 constituted a significant element in Malaysia’s plan to become a developed nation by 2020. Fully funded by the oil giant Petronas, the institution was established with the clear objective of combining academic instruction with first-hand industrial experience to produce a new generation of technically qualified, well-rounded graduates capable of contributing to Malaysia’s industrial development.
