ABSTRACT

The sport director of Red Bull Salzburg, Rolf Rangnick, shouts before he slams the door and leaves the board meeting:

Red Bull needs a team which can compete in Champion’s League; the only market that we have not reached. The best is if we can purchase a team in the London area, but both Everton and Liverpool are of interest. I have looked at the Championship, but there we can spend a fortune without coming anywhere. Look at Charlton, which reached the Premier League in Spring 2014. Its new owner Roland Duchatelet did it again. He has simultaneously managed to get his top team Standard to win the Belgian league. He understands the economies of scale in managing sport.
