ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to take the beads-on-string form developed in Chapter 6and to arrange the strings into a whole city model. This will be an idealised form, not an actual city plan, that will extend the theoretical model so that its properties citywide can be examined. It will be shown that the goals of sustainability and quality of life can lead to a uniquely robust pattern of city form and that this pattern has remarkable, even novel, qualities.
