Seeing people, scenes, and ideas in our mind’s eye is a phenomenon that everyone experiences, with or without conscious control. If you misplace your keys, you may deliberately instruct your mind to visually play back your steps from the last time you had them in your hand. Conversely, you may fi nd it diffi cult to block out a painful visual memory that keeps appearing unbidden on your mental screen. ese are examples of visualization as we commonly know it.
