ABSTRACT
Gathering information is a key step in criminal investigation. This is particularly relevant in the investigation of complex crimes, where information collection will set the pace and direction of the investigation process. Also, information collected will unveil other types of evidence that will, or will not, corroborate what we know. In crimes where sometimes there is no other type of evidence, the statement will be even more of a determinant of the criminal investigation success. For that reason, psychological research has collected data and developed tools to understand and collect information in a more efficient way and with better quality (Gudjonsson, 2003; Kassin, 2008; Lassiter and Meissner, 2010; Milne and Bull, 1999; Shepherd, 2007; Shepherd and Griffiths, 2013).
