ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we examine the wide-reaching effects of technology and how this depersonalization can influence one’s sense of right and wrong. Five case studies illustrate the extent to which technology has affected our moral judgments and what our society considers to be ethical behavior. These dilemmas involve sexting as well as various permutations of cyberbullying and cell phone use. Moreover, they remind us of our humanity and the ever-increasing need for us as educators to preserve and maintain respect for the individual in an increasingly complex world.
