The Family Courts and Process

Today, family courts are largely concerned with the law relating to the family unit. They deal with:

Jurisdiction to hear these matters is conferred to Family Proceedings Courts, which are specialist magistrates’ courts, as well as county courts and the Family Division of the High Court (see sections 6.5.5 and 6.5.6 for a detailed breakdown of the family courts).
