ABSTRACT
The word aggression is used a great deal in everyday language but a precise definition of an aggressive act is difficult to pin down and depends, to some extent, on opinion. Is a professional boxer aggressive? Is a tennis player aggressive when she throws down her racquet after missing an easy ball? One reason why aggression is difficult to define is that we need to look at the motivation behind an action, rather than the action itself, in order to make the judgement.
