ABSTRACT
Health maintenance organizations (HMOs), third-party payers, federal, state, local, and other funding sources require that mental health practitioners be accountable for creating a clear focus on goals, producing positive results, and keeping therapy relatively brief. We view this as an ex cellent invitation to become more accountable in the field of mental health. To do this, mental health practitioners have had to answer the following question: What works in therapy?
