ABSTRACT

This chapter provides language for the polarity of feeling and nonfeeling. It discusses to differentiate self from others' feelings and ideas. It explores possible integration of feeling and nonfeeling. The children will eagerly show a feeling face and want the others to what the feeling word is. Each child shares something he or she did over the weekend with family. The group members are asked to practice their deep breathing; the leaders ask the children for suggestions about what to 'smell' and 'blow'. A leader introduces the next activity by saying: Remember, the other week we talked a lot about big feelings and small feelings. At this point, Koko and Bunny can chime in and begin to model this activity. The leader prompts each group member for this kind of self/other identification and differentiation. At the end of group, the puppets are put away, the children are seated in a circle, and the leader serves snack.
