ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to heighten children's awareness and tolerance of feelings associated with transitions. It increases children's awareness of how they manage their feelings during transitions, particularly by polarizing feeling and nonfeeling. The children will eagerly show a feeling face and want the others to guess the feeling word and whether it is a big feeling or a small feeling. The group members are asked to practice their relaxation exercise, doing deep breathing or tight/loose muscles. Koko and Bunny participate in this as well. The leaders conduct the puppet play, asking children for feelings where indicated. The leader should close the puppet play by reflecting and summarizing Bunny's and Koko's feelings. As with other group sessions, if the group would benefit more from a calming activity or if the group is anxious and wants snack early, then a book or poem can be read during snack.
