ABSTRACT

The continuous quantitative variables identified in the present study have been analyzed by means of the SPSS subprogram CONDESCRIPTIVE which computes descriptive statistics for continuous quantitative variables. The following six descriptive statistics available in the subprogram are of relevance to the present study: mean, range, sum, minimum, maximum, and standard deviation.(1) These statistics may be used directly as measures in their own right, as in the case of the mean, range, minimum, and maximum; or indirectly, as in the case of both the mean and the standard deviation, in equations such as those used to produce the confidence intervals for the mean.
