ABSTRACT
Sir Robert Grant, the Governor of Bombay, was the younger brother of Charles Grant, who had been President of the India Board from November 1830 to December 1834 and was now Colonial Secretary with the title of Lord Glenelg. Only a year apart in age, they had been born in Bengal and came to Britain in 1790 in their early teens.
