ABSTRACT
Sir R obert G ran t, the G overnor of Bom bay, was the younger b ro th er of C harles G ran t, who had been Presiden t of the In d ia B oard from N ovem ber 1830 to D ecem ber 1834 and was now C olonial Secretary w ith the title of Lord G lenelg. O nly a year ap a rt in age, they had been born in Bengal and cam e to B rita in in 1790 in the ir early teens.
