ABSTRACT

This is one of the first collections devoted to a broad-spectrum coverage of divorce therapy. Books have been written about certain special topics like mediation (Coogler, 1978; Haynes, 1981; Irving, 1980), and treating postdivorce families (Hansen, 1982; Sager et al., 1983; Visher & Visher, 1979). In addition, there are several overview pieces about divorce therapy (Brown, 1976; Kaslow, 1981; Storm, Sprenkle & Williamson, 1985), but these are limited by the constraints of article or book chapter format. The current collection, then, offers the reader an opportunity to examine a wider variety of divorce therapy approaches than the more specialized volumes and also to explore them in more depth than the articles just cited. The collection also contains some approaches which have not been described in the literature.
