ABSTRACT

The final test is the mock battle. In order to be ready to process the trauma, the child must be able to give an overview of the traumatic memories he has – in a nutshell. For one child this nutshell may be a walnut shell (a brief summary) and for another a coconut shell (an extensive description). In order to be ready to process the trauma, the child must be able to make an overview of the traumatic memories he has – in a nutshell while staying within his window of tolerance. If this proves impossible, the child must first do further work on the other tests. This test can also be used at the beginning of the treatment, to determine whether the child is sufficiently stable to start trauma processing straight away.
