The Father and the Child's Representation of God

Psychoanalytic literature has neglected not only the role of the father “in the flesh” (Freud, 1913, p. 147) but also the “exalted father” (Freud, 1910, p. 123; 1913, p. 147; 1914, p. 243; 1923c, p. 85) whom children transform into a God.
