ABSTRACT
Care must be taken in applying these Doppler formulas to the case of light transmission, which usually means to certain astronomical situations. To make the correct calculation in those cases, we must take into account a basic postulate of Albert Einstein's special theory of relativity:
No speed of a physical object exceeds the speed of light. This has two important consequences for our calculations.
