ABSTRACT
In Article 1 of the Articles of Agreement, the Contractor undertakes to carry out and complete the project for a named sum: the Contract Sum. This sum, adjustable in defined circumstances, is to be paid to the Contractor at times and in a manner specified in the Conditions. This chapter covers the following relevant issues most of which are covered in Clause 30:
Interim Certificates
responsibility for valuation and certification
valuation to determine the amount due
unfixed materials
failure to pay on a certificate
the treatment of retention funds
final adjustment of the Contract Sum
the Final Certificate
the Architect's liability for negligent certification.
