ABSTRACT

This address was given by Failla, at that time an openly gay criminal court judge of the city of New York, at the awards banquet held at the Plaza Hotel by the Fund for Human Dignity. He was awarded the Howard Brown Memorial Award. Howard Brown was the physician who was appointed by Mayor John Lindsay as New York City's first health services administrator. The story of his coming out in 1973 is told in his autobiography,Familiar Faces, Hidden Lives. WNET is New York City's public television station.
