ABSTRACT
This address was given by Grier, founder of Naiad Press and longtime writer and editor of The Ladder, to the Second Annual Lesbian Writers Conference in Chicago, Illinois, in September 1975. The biography of Marion “Joe” Carstairs was written by Kate Summerscale and pub-lishedin 1997 as The Queen of Whale Cay. The speech by Robin Morgan (included in this book) is “Lesbianism and Feminism: Synonyms or Contradictions?” and was given at the West Coast Lesbian Feminist Conference in Los Angeles on April 14, 1973. The bibliography referred to is Maria Kuda's 1974 compilation Women Loving Women, published in Chicago by Lavender Press.
