ABSTRACT
This speech was delivered at a rally outside the Massachusetts State House in August 1977 protesting a proposed piece of legislation which would have barred Medicaid funds from being used to pay for abortions for poor women. It had at this time passed both houses of the legislature and was expected to be vetoed by Governor Michael Dukakis, with an attempted override vote forecast as being very close.
