ABSTRACT
On May 12, 1978, a rally sponsored by Bay Area Coalition Against the Briggs Initiative was held in San Francisco, California. Among the representatives of organized labor speaking was David McDonald, then newly elected president of the 17,000-member Local 2 of the Hotel and Restaurant Workers and Bartenders Union, the largest in the city.
