ABSTRACT
Although the nature of the family and its impact on the developing child has been extensively examined from the perspective of the anthropologist, psychologist and sociologist, there is relatively little known about the child’s understanding of the family. This chapter considers the ways in which children think about the family and how their thinking changes with age.
