ABSTRACT

This chapter investigates factors that m i g h t be associated w i t h better res i l - ience a m o n g w o m e n . S ince o u r data i n c l u d e s several var iables t a p p i n g p s y c h o s o c i a l f u n c t i o n i n g , w e invest igated w h e t h e r w o m e n c o u l d be stat is t ical ly c lus tered i n t o dif ferent psychosoc ia l f u n c t i o n i n g groups , a n d w h e t h e r these groups di f fered o n o u r set of abuse, at t i tude, H I V risk, a n d d e m o g r a p h i c variables . U l t i m a t e l y , a n u n d e r s t a n d i n g of these factors c o u l d be a p p l i e d to i n t e r v e n t i o n s to h e l p i m p r o v e a sense of w e l l - b e i n g a m o n g w o m e n , p a r t i c u l a r l y those w h o h a v e e x p e r i e n c e d c h i l d h o o d t r a u m a .
