ABSTRACT
In the formulation of psychological theory it is only too easy to take integration for granted, butina study of the early stages of the developing human individual it is necessary to think of integration as an achievement. No doubt there is a biological tendency towards integration, but in psychological studies of human nature it is never satisfactory to lean too heavily on the biological aspect of growth.
