ABSTRACT

I am going to approach the topic of transference issues in cross-sex supervision from the point of view of the learner, the supervisee. The position that I am taking is that what appear on the surface to be gender issues are on a deeper level transference issues: transference projections and displacements, both positive and negative. These transference issues may be triggered by the sex of the supervisor, a salient dimension, as well as by age and other concrete factors.
