ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to describe a comprehensive model for the treatment of intrafamily sexual abuse. The model has been developed over a twelve year period by several teams of therapists at Midwest Family Resource, in Chicago. Over two hundred and fifty families and individuals involved in incestuous relationships have been treated during this time period. A formal outcome study is presently being conducted, but the preliminary results indicate the program is highly successful in ending the abuse and allowing the families to remain together. The program has a recidivism rate of about 2 percent.
