ABSTRACT

As discussed in earlier chapters, the effect of job loss can be highly stressful for individuals whose positions have been terminated. The terminated employees, however, are not the only ones who are affected. Their family members are impacted as well. Job loss has repercussions throughout a family system, and can produce a wide range of reactions among family members. This chapter examines some of those family reactions and the ways in which outplacement services have responded to these issues.
