ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to provide suggestions to improve assessments and interventions during the career development process with American Indians. Initially, the theories that guide the discussion are presented; they are the individual differences tradition, social learning theory, and an ecological perspective. Then, a model for developing a differential assessment and intervention plan with American Indians is outlined accompanied by a discussion. Finally, an example is presented that illustrates how interventions can be identified in conduction with assessments using the cultural and contextual guide for planning differential assessment and intervention with American Indians.
