ABSTRACT
The following is an imaginary interview that I conducted with Dr. Köhler at his retirement home in New Hampshire in June 1967, shortly before his death. As I approached the house, Dr. Köhler was outside, chopping wood. His ax gleamed; it obviously was maintained carefully. Although he was doing manual labor, he was dressed impeccably in a suit and tie, very much the gentleman.
