ABSTRACT
Is the sense of identity related to how a person construes and experiences temporal perspective? This is the central question of this chapter. The question arose from clinical observations of acutely ill psychiatric patients. It appeared that when these patients' temporal perspective became chaotic they also lost their sense of self. 2 This spurred more systematic studies and explorations that I summarize in this chapter.
