ABSTRACT

Obviously consumers are affected by changes in the mental health care delivery system. Employers, insurers, and providers should assist consumers in understanding the nature and extent of services available to them and the role of managed care systems in them. Consumers should become aware of the nature of their mental health and substance abuse benefits at the time they select a benefit option or plan. Most employers cooperate with vendors in offering orientation programs about benefits to employees. Various intracompany communications may also be used for this purpose.
