ABSTRACT

As discussed in Chapter 11, when clients voice complaints or view others as the problem, we can often translate this complaint or view into a goal that the client genuinely wants to achieve. When mandated clients complain of a judge who's an idiot, social workers who stick their noses in other people's business, or parole officers that are just never satisfied, try to connect with what result or goal the mandated client is really after. We can work to turn negative, backward-looking complaints into positive, forward-looking goals.
